Recently picked up an 03 plate Octavia, I've had a couple of niggles with the car so far but overall very impressed.

One thing thats frustrated me is the sound quality from the front speakers in particular which seems to be a common problem reading some of the threads.

Initially I thought that the speakers themselves were shot given the buzzing noise I was getting with tracks which had any amount of bass.

Yesterday I removed the speakers to measure them up and get a new set ordered. Upon actually inspecting the speakers they actually look in fairly decent nick. It was just going dark last night so didn't really have a good opportunity to ferret around to see what else may be causing this and am unlikely to get any time to invesigate much further until next weekend.

Anybody else has similar problems to this, which were easily remedied before I go and part with my cash?

Some people have cut a flap in the foam membrane behind the speaker which apparently helps the sound quality.
