Removal of battery and fuel filter

Featured Replies

Will add with all the bits associated with both battery and fuel filter and housings removal.

Questions... What sort of problems might I have with getting the battery and the plastic skeleton that surrounds it ? Will I have to re code the radio or anything else ?

Also how involved is it getting the plastic bits off ?

The filter I understand is fairly straight forward but with lots of Derv . Will I have to reprime the filter prior to restarting the motor ? Have got the Haynes book but it really is hopeless in explaining anything.

Fuel filter is very simple. Its a canister filter so take the pipes off the top, slide the filter up after releasing the three locking tabs, change the seals on the t shaped return valve and refit the pipes. Turn the ignition on and the lift pump should prime the filter just fine. Start it up and let it run. If it does cut out (they dont very often) a short crank should get it going again without any issues.

The battery is also fairly simple. Flip the top up and slide off, Undo the terminals, undo the 13mm clamp at the front then lift out the battery then there is three 13mm bolts/nuts. two at the back and one sunk down to the right and the whole lot lifts out.

Great thanks for quick reply.. I take it that the removal of battery for an hour or so is safe and nothing will need to be reprogrammed or other could there be other possible problems ?

If your stereo is the original, you shouldn't need to recode it. Oddly, the Symphony in my wife's car isn't the original and it needs to have the code entered every time the battery's disconnected, even though it says it's 'learning' after I put the code in... :ne_nau:
