Great price for cam belt, water pump &MOT

Featured Replies

Had my cam belt, water pump, tensioners replaced today and MOT,falled on one orange bulb, at Chequered Flag,Attleborough,Norfolk. After reading on this forum what some of you had paid I was very pleased when I got the bill £358-12p.This was less than the quote they gave me for the cam belt alone.I did phone for quotes from a couple of smaller local garages but they were only a few pounds cheaper than the dealers so took it back to where I bought it from and am glad I did now.

Thanks, makes me feel better about spending an imminent £260 for a cam belt + water at a local VAG indy.

Both prices sound very reasonable. :)

I purchased my kit myself

Metal Impellor water pump

tensioners

cam belt

G12 fluid...

then never got round to getting it done so i bit the bullet and booked it in at Skoda... £150 to fit... not bad :)

Please forgive me, but what is the g12 fluid, and what is it for???... oh and if you don't mind me asking, where did you source the parts and how much wedge did you have to part with them???

G12 fluid is proper VAG spec Engine coolant and HAS to be used with the Fabia vRS anyway... other models too id guess..

TBH i cant really remember bud but i got it all from Skoda Genuine parts as i felt the timing belt wasnt something i wanted to skrimp on...

Think the uprated waterpump was around £60

Timing belt kit £80/£90

IIRC (rough estimates)

was that all the tensioners and belts also?if so great price but i was under the impression the full kit off of skoda costs £250 alon if so you defo one a watch i was 500 and mot wow i wasnt impressed only had a year.

i just had a 60,000mile service plus my cambelt and water pump done. That was £478 - I figured that wasn't too bad, though i didn't bother shopping round.....
