vag 405 handheld scanner by Autel

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am brand new to this site, so appologise if this is duplicated elsewhere, but I searched and couldnt find the answer.

I have ordered a Autel VAG405 scanner after using one to reset the long life service on my Audi last week, and being that I am on the look out for an Octavia Estate, I thought that this would come in handy.

Has anyone on here got one as I seem to have set my car to interval service as when I checked the dash today it shows 358 days to next service or 8600 miles.

I put in castrol SLX 3 in to run on long life, just would like some help in plain speak on how to do it. I have downloaded the manual, but it isnt as plain to understand as I would like, and I am expecting delivery of my scanner this week sometime.

I live in Wales near to a place called Ammanford, and would be particulary interested in anyone living close by.

thanks

You can reset the service interval using the odometer button. Exactly how will be in the manual. Doing it this way will put you on fixed service intervals, based on the time and mileage when you did the 'manual' reset. Having said this, you may well find the scanner comes in handy for other things if you're going to be doing your own servicing!

Which is correct, but not really useful considering:

I presume the handheld has just done the equivalent of what I described...

Anyway, back on-topic...

I dont do my own servicing, the garage did it but didnt have the facility to set the long life service.

I did it with an Autel I borrowed, but I think I did it incorrectly.

Has anyone on here set the car up for long life using the Autel.

Any guides out there that are in plain speak and a bit easier than the instructions. Although straighforward, I dont know whether I need to input what type of oil etc.

Any help appreciated.

Dai
