You can't tow an auto either unless the driving wheels are off the ground otherwise it buggers the gearbox.

How about NO tax for a change, Its not being spent how it should.

There is a really major road in my town that needs resurfacing desperately.

I've complained, so have other people, the council have looked at agreed it really needs doing.

1.5yrs later, And have done nothing... So where is my £281 a year vechile tax going?????? (thats 1 car 2bikes.)

Or to put it another way, badly driven manuals lower the refinement of a car. I've yet to drive an automatic that could change as smoothly and invisibly (in all situations) as a good driver...

HMMM - Autos - lets go Ken o'Neill country (as I guess it ),then go a lot west ,and some north --then in the middle of summer you find you'reself descending some awsome hill in an auto - and all you've got to rely on is brakes .Hit the same hill again in the middle of winter in an Auto - Hello St Peter .:eek::eek:

I do not love auto boxes, but this is so much MBF. This is exactly why autos have manual over-rides which always let you lock out the higher gears!

Ballcocks; it's Liquid Petroleum Gas, and doesn't generate significantly less carbon per gallon than Octane or Citane based fuels do. Whether the carbon content actually matters is another question, but let's not pretend that an historically favourable tax treatment actually means low carbon as well!
