wont say how it happened(wife!!!)

wrong key put in barrel, barrel is playing up

when you normally release the key the doors will unlock and steering lock etc etc

this is not happening, fob will not activate as the car things the barrel is still engaged if you know what i mean

only way to lock the car is via key , then all doors open shut etc

she could not have jammed the key in that far

any ideas

liberal application of WD40 might help.

Was it another skoda key or something completely different? I wouldn't have thought just inserting a different skoda key would be a problem.

Better yet, use a graphite lock lubricant on a real Skoda key.

TBH I'm not sure how, or even that, you'd get a mechanically incompatible key into the lock.
