The old engine (code BWA) is rubber timing belt, the new one (CCTA) has a timing chain plus other changes - it is the same engine family as the EA888 1.8 TFSI. AFAIK they haven't started putting the new ones in Skodas yet, but it can't be too far away. Maybe with the Mk 2.5 (facelifted) vRS ?

I've not seen many GTis with it in as yet either. Scirroco has it though. Guess the MK6 GTi will have it from day one.

The yanks have been getting the CCTA engine (and the PZEV version, CBFA ? ) in their Mk V Golf GTIs for months now (IIRC since March 2008 ?).
