anybody used a tomtom round the nurburg ring

Featured Replies

i was thinking.(not a good thing) if you drive around the nurburgring would your sat nav show you the track coming up corner by corner. just like it does on a normal route. i thought it might since the ring is supposably classed as a public road.

any body tried it,

word of advice!

DO NOT DO THIS!

:D You can see most of the corners coming anyway - Just do 2 or 3 slow laps, or try to gain a little experience of the general corners using GT4 on the PS2 (or any other equivalent - even watching a youtube lap will help a little)

ive been round before mate, just got caught out on a few corners and the crests. and thought it'd make sure i new the severity of the corner before i got there

tomtom doesn't even begin to tell you this to be honest. Just learn it even more. Only took me about 8 laps before I was pretty confident of what was coming and how to prepare for it.

true, was just a thought anyway

plus you will be pre-occupied with other drivers, you wont really have a chance to watch your tomtom lol

goin back in july again, cant bloody wait,

i hammered project gotham 4 for about a month and knew the track inside out, but like they said on topgear you dont get all the bumps in the road and gradients like you do on the real thing, like the big hill climb after breidscheid,

have a look for some maps online, big help

my two favourite corners were after wipperman which are escback and brunnchen, very tricky

try this, its the map i bought there

good map, will try and get that printed off. taking a mate down as well, he can have the map, prob with last time i went the car was brand new, and i was petrified of wrapping it in, alot more confident with it now, so looking forward to going down in the new year, especially with the new brakes, since last time i cooked them and had some horiffic fade on them.

you could always get a co driver and right down the route etc or even google to see if someone has already put one online.

Or you could "preview" the TomTom directions??

Dave

My tomtom thought i was on the ring, when filling up at the petrol station nearby!

It might tell you to take the next right & take you into the forest :)
