Memo Scanner Codes - Octy VRS I

I have one of these Memo Scanner readers, and came up with the following codes ;

1. 4488

2. 4529

3. 4528

(They came up in that order...)

1. In the book, 4488 is Bank 1 mixture adaption, mixture too lean. Having read that the '8' may be a 'B" it could also be "Linear Lamda Probe resist interruption.

2./ 3. 4529 and 4528 aren't even listed in the manual - ??!!!! :eek:

Anyone have one of these, or know what the score is with these codes? Any help much appreciated..!

TBH, thats what I initially thought it 'could' be. Nowt wrong with the temp guage, no rough idling. Light only comes on when sharp changes of temperature occur though.

Have had new coolant tank this year, but otherwise runs perfectly.

Anyone else concur that the feckin Lamda probe is goosed?! :)

With a lean mixture code on a MK I VRS, I'll be looking for a vacuum leak/split breather hose, as in this thread.

One of the other codes could be the infamous 17705.

Ok, now only left with 4488 - the other two have gone.

Could not see any obvious leaks or splits on any hoses....?!??!

Is the temp sensor a possibilty also? (Ruled out MAF, as this has been replaced...)

Just because you replaced the MAF doesn't automatically mean its ruled out. ;) Do a proper check of the related systems before you swap expensive parts, saves you money and in the long run you actually learn to understand whats going on. ;)

Other than that you may wanna get a scan tool that gives out proper VAG codes or at least proper generic OBD2/EOBD ones and not a format which you need to convert before you are able to work with it. :)

Did a temporary repair with the damaged pipe in situ. Now have a replacement pipe. As a relative newcomer to the VAG engines(Cough), what is the easiest way to get this pipe out? The plate attached to the inlet manifold, once the 2 screws are removed still has all manner of pipes on it !!?

The other end is completely inaccessible. Can anyone advise of the best (and safest) way to get this awkward little pipe out? :confused:
