Rear Wiper fault

Featured Replies

Greetings All,

I have an intermittent fault with the rear wiper on a Fabia 1.2 Classic. With the wiper stalk in the off position, the rear wiper will work - sometimes its for a single sweep followed by a variable time, then another sweep, sometimes its continuous. When the fault is not present, the wiper works as expected.

Steps taken so far;

1. Had a look at the insides of the rear wiper gearbox - clean and no sign of water ingress.

2. Started to follow the fault finding program 6/1 in the electrical drawings pdf (made the assumption that supply to the wiper switch was present) 12v present between 1 and 4 of the rear wiper motor connector, 7.5 ohms between pin 1 and 4 with the switch in the intermittent wipe position.

My questions are :)

Has anyone seen this before - what was the fix, and

7.5 ohms seems too high for a straight forward switch - is there anything else in the circuit like a relay coil, that I should be looking at :confused:

Many thanks for any input,

Frogeye
