I am having a few electrical probs and a few people here have suggested looking at earth points so was looking around under the bonnet and found that there is what looks like a junction box for ground points but it should have a cover on it which hasnt been put back on and there is some slight corrosion.

If you look closley it looks like a wire has been snapped off i can see 3 cables but it looks like there is another cable that should be heading towards the engine block.

I wasnt tooled up at the time and it was going dark so couldnt remove the bolt to see if something was snapped off, I will do this tomorrow but its been doing my head in and thought you guys may be able to shed some light on this for now.

Are these earths (at least 2 of them) for the convenience unit?

I have traced these earths to the front passenger side footwell but want some pointers as to if there should be 4 cables going into this box in the picture or is everything normal.

May be a long shot but you never know with all this perserverance i might get this corrected.

hmmm if you are referring to the lug in the top left quadrant i would say thats more of a locator than a snapped off piece.....

Thanks, It looks like someone before me though has had this bolt off for something and hasnt replaced the cover cap.

Will clean this up tomorrow but cant see it making any difference.

Well your earth is corroded, so you need to undo the nut, clean it all up with a wire brush, give it a spray of WD40 or a conductive grease etc then put it back together and put some protective grease over the top.

I didnt have time to do this today but will sort it tomorrow like said i will give it a good going over with the wire brush.

Can i get a replacment cover for this earth junction, Just wish people would put things back when they have taken them off.

I agree, why put a cover on the nut if you are then going to put a cover over the whole lot?

I would do as cheezy suggested above.
