Magnetic sump plug + oil filter magnet + fully synth ?

Featured Replies

just bought a 1.4 mpi classic. very low 6,000 genuine mileage.

lovely car, very impressed so far.

Ive been researching using a magnetic sump plug , and was wondering if anyone here has bought / used one ? and if so where from ?

I dont know what size sump plug is used, and was wondering if it is the same as the VW engines, as I can get a magnetic plug quite easily for those.

Also, the idea of fitting a strong magnet on the oil filter seems a good one, any info on these ? some people say its best to fit them around the dia of the filter, some say it should be on the butt end of the filter.

Ive seen a strong 23kg neo magnet on *bay for £6 , so cheaper than ready made ones, and stronger than most.

finally, what is the best oil to use ?

should i be going for semi or fully synth ?

the car has low mileage, but is 7 years old, so a just been used once a week for shopping, as was owned by a retired person, so not sure if its fully breaked in yet .

any info greatly appreciated,

buganna

I have just bought one from Awesome GTi.. theyre site sponsers on here. cost around £15 IIRC

Your best bet would be to ask AwesomeSarah on here... she will be able to tell you
