CD Changer compatability

Featured Replies

At the moment I have a SEAT Ibiza with a std VW CD changer, which I believe is fitted to Mk4 Golfs. I would like to keep the changer when I sell the car.

So, I have a few questions:-

Will this changer be compatable with the Symphony HU in a Fabia?

Will I need an additional cable to connect it up or will the Fabia have a pre-installed cable, & if it has, in what location is it installled?

Cheers,

Jon

Should do, providing it's a Symphony which supports the CD changer - I think there is one which doesn't...

Yeah, just ordered a vRS, so it's definately the Symphony HU.

Where are the optional changers fitted?

I would prefer to fit mine in the boot.

Not all Symphony units are the same IIRC...certainly the one on the Octy is different from the one in the Fabia vRS...

Oh. I didn't know that.

The factory-fit optional changer on the Fabia vRS is under the passenger seat, where there'd otherwise be a storage box. It's in the boot on Octies, I think.

I don't want to lose the box under the passenger seat when I get my Fabia vRS, so I'm going aftermarket (it's way cheaper too!). I'm planning to fit a six-disc Alpine changer under the driver's seat, or in the glovebox / boot if I can't squeeze it in!
