finaly sorted the knocking/cracking sound that has been coming from the suf-frame for the last six months.

after changing almost all mechanical parts,

ie; steering wrack, drive shafts, stabiliser mount.

turned out to be one of the inner ARB mounts that was slipping.

as i had the car up on ramps i did a little modifying.

i packed the stabiliser mount with 4x30mm bits of rubber brake line. and i packed out the rear gear linkage stabilised with eletrical tape.

as a result the engine is much more conected to the wheels and the gear stick is much firmer.

what is the ARB mounts?

and witch is the stabilizer mount and rear gear link you talked about?

the "ARB" inner mount is the anti-roll-bar inner mount were it is fixed to the sub-frame.

the stabiliser mount is the middle engine mount that is bolted between the back of the gearbox and the sub-frame. it stops the engine swinging around on the other two mounts.

and the gear link one is the bush that holds up the gear stick linkage, its under the car behind were the gear stick pokes through.
