Yes! But mine have been deemed illegal by the NZ authorities and I've had to take them off to avoid a possible $200 fine :(

Why did you have German plates on a Harley?

Lol I wish I had a harley, just looked on the net for a PCN for incorrect plates.

It's a yay from me...........

I was going to get some german style plates but changed my mind because i couldn't be bothered with the possible hassle from plod.

I got some pressed alloy plates from Dubmiester which are road legal but still look good.

All the info is on the website.

Regards Chris

yes from me too

Although i can see why people choose them (to be different) personally i wouldn't bother, they do not perform as well as the acrylic UK style plates (they do not self clean, or age as well) and a lot of them (not all) would not be to BSAU145d std's therefore illegal.

IMO you would get away with UK plates that do not have the BSAU145d and supplier stamp on them providing they are 100% legal font and spacing, however the moment you deviate from a 'normal' plate they will draw attention - not all good.

The dubmeister plates have the BS number and the postcode on them so are legal. If you have odd fonts or play with the spacing then they dont come with the BS standard so are ilegal.

Um... not really...

They're only technically legal if the supplier records your details and sees your documentation. Although that said if Dubmiester are producing otherwise legal plates it's them that are breaking the law.

Anyway, I don't want to start another debate on the legalities of these plates, so to change the subject...

I've got a set I use for off road/show use only, and they look fine IMHO. I've not got banded ones though - personally, I think if you want a band it should be the Czech one like on Baker's show plates. There's pics of my unbanded show plates on my project diary.

The Dubmeister plates I had on my last car were pressed plates with the UK font, but were still classed as show plates because they didn't have the BS mark, postcode etc, and because they weren't asking for proof of ownership.

With recent changes in regulations, they now only supply the fully legal marked up versions (http://www.dubmeister.co.uk/newPlates.php), but you either have to buy through one of their distributors (who will check the paperwork) or you have to send the paperwork to them if you order online.

Their website lists what documentation is required...

Proof of entitlement codes

V5 - 11 digits in section D

V11 - Vehicle licence renewal

V379 - Vehicle registration

V750 - Certificate of entitlement

V778 - Cherished transfer

Official Hire/Lease document

Record of insurance claim

Proof of Identity

Driving Licence

Passport

Photo travel pass or ID card

Foreign ID photo ID card

Everything seems to be legit IMHO

Ahh, I didn't realise DM asked for documentation now

Yeah I needed to show 2 forms of car ID (think it was V5 + license) to a local place that uses Dubmeister to produce the same pressed plates. Mine came with all the necessary markings and I think look real nice. One bonus over normal plates is there's no chance of (over time) moisture getting between the plate and the clear cover, and causing the rot to set it.
