Warranty Issue

Featured Replies

The cover for my headlamp washer has come off my MKII Elegance. I have taken it into one dealer so far who told me that it would not be covered under warranty as I don't have the part that fell off for them to fix back on. Had a rough quote of £50 to get it fixed but surely this is a warranty claim on a 4 week old car.

I'm not sure if I'm expected to drive down every motorway I've been down looking for it to save myself £50 but it doesn't seem right to me.

Can anyone advise on whether this seems right or not?

Legally I am not sure - but morally it should be. if it were me I would try another dealer (Is this the Dealer that sold you the car?). I remember when I bought my Elegance from dealer and the eject button was missing on the Sat nav after a couple of weeks. They changed the complete unit - even though I did not have the eject button, christ knows where that went.

Kick up a stink is my advice.

Tell the Dealer you think it was last seen in the fast lane of the M1 (or similar).

Ask them if they really want you to go and collect it and ask them to obtain Police permission for you to do so.

The dealer's position is non-sensical and can easily be shown as such.

What utter rubbish! The fact that it fell off is - in itself - sufficient for a claim. It obviously wasn't affixed correctly in the first place, that's why it fell off. Ask him how you were supposed to know when it detached - makes you wonder how he got the job. :(

Ray.

tell him the original washer was clearly not fit for purpose and you will see him in the small claims court !

i think you should name and shame the dealer so we can all stay clear of him

Utter B.ll..ks!! How the hell are you supposed to know where and when the damn thing fell off?

Don't stand for it!

Thing is it's not the dealer that sold the car. Joys of having a company car I spose. it's the dealer that's closest to me, I do have another one to choose from so might pop down there to get an opinion.

If they confirm that it is a warranty issue then they will get all my business for service from then on. Won't name and shame just yet but may do if it kicks off properly.

Was hoping someone that works in a dealership could confirm this one was or another so I had some ammo to go into the dealership with.

Bit dissapointed that the dealer didn't even want to fight on my behalf. it may cost him 3 years of service revenue and these days that must be worth fighting for!

silly sod - (the dealer that is , not you !)

we bought an audi 6 years ago from a dealer in London. It has been serviced and repaired at my local audi (Lincoln) and we had nothing but excellent service from them. I spent ages looking for the right car when i bought it and Lincoln could not find me the one i wanted so i bought from elsewhere. I took up a huge amount of the salesman time and in the end he didnt get my business but the dealership were not so short sighted as to give me bad aftersales service. In the end they got a lot of business from me. shame this skoda dealer did follow this example !!

I hope i get good treament from Horton Skoda in Lincoln with my superb. Again i didnt buy from my local dealer as the deal was not as good as the one i got from Allams. Any warranty work will be going to hortons as there are not other skoda dealers in a 35 mile radius.

I have dealt with Horton Skoda in Lincoln and when I dealt with them they were first class, in fact if I call by and pop in Dennis still says hello
