Sat Nav display problem

Featured Replies

Hi everyone - can anyone throw any light on this problem:

Superb Elegance with sat nav. car had not been used for a week. Got in yesterday morning and started it up (no problem there) and then noticed that although my CD was playing the screen on the sat nav was not lit. I tried turning off and on a couple of times but still no display. Then after about 5 mins the display appeared and was ok for the rest of the day. Tried it first thing this morning and again it worked fine.

Any ideas anyone - just out of warranty as well?

Have heard about this before, has been a thread about it on here somewhere, don't think it is a problem.

It happens intermittently (every couple of months) with mine (as does Maxidot problems)

I eject the CD, wait a few seconds then re-insert. This must re-boot the satnav. Always fixes the problem.

Thanks for your replies guys - as long as it fixes after a short while I don't see a problem and I can live with it. I was just worried that the actual display or something was on it's way out.

Cheers everyone and have a great Xmas

Mine does this. I got it covered under the Warranty Direct extended warranty just in case it fails. Sometimes it also gives a load of German blurb saying "the SatNav isn't working". Switching off/on cures it.

I have had that message (in German) appear on the Maxi Dot many times, both on my current and last car. Sometimes when I have needed it. But when I have set a destination into the sat nav, it works.

Just another computer glitch in the car.

Seems strange, we all expect computers to fail from time to time, it's what they do. But when it is on a car, we always fear the worse. Now where is that reboot button? :D

You are absolutely right Steve. I too have the "nicht activ" blurb in maxidot but switching off and on cures it. The Dealer says he thinks it needs an update on software and they were going to speak to the Tech Liason guy when he visited next and let me know. I will chase that up in the New Year.

My SatNav throws a wobbly now and again, and as above, an eject of the CD sorts it. On the Maxidot the "Sigue Sigue Sputnik" message ;) can be removed by going into the menu and just selecting "Trip Computer" and it goes back to English again
