problem with push rods

Featured Replies

i have notices that my push rods are the same size and diameter, but apparently not the same alloy and the previous mechanic did not install them correctly.

i need to know if there is a way to identify witch of the push rods are of alloy and witch are of a different alloy or is there a way to change them to all the same alloy

i inspected two of the push rods for one cylinder and notices both of them where iron and of the same diameter, witch mean i'm right and the cylinder i look had was paired with to iron ones, or all of them are iron, so i ask you guys, could a felicia 1.3 GLX come from the factory with all iron push rods ?

another thing is i called the distributor here and for me to buy push rods i have to give them the chassis number, could it be that different push rods configuration are matched with the region the car is sent to ?.

or maybe i'm just mistaken and both bush rods where of different alloy and i just dint notices (though i kinda believe is hard not to tell when something is iron just by touch an texture)

maybe the carburator engine is of the old favorit... they were with 8 steel push rods... afaik only the injection models have alloy on inlet and steel on exhaust...

could be, but it would not explain why #4 piston spark plugs is pristine @ 0.20mm and #2 piston shows fouling @ 0.23mm, if they where all steel then they would show same amount of fouling and i know what you might think, saying maybe a seal damage on the engine or the valve guide or the piston ring, but... if i set it to 0.25mm or more all the spark plugs come out with absolutely no fouling, plus i know i have a valve clearance mismatch cu's vacuum and spark tells me (if i ride @ 2000 rpm normal load, shut of engine and coast on neutral to a stop and inspect all the spark plugs they show different reading all regrading compression) and the best fuel economy i have achieved is 38km/g (24mpg ~9.9 L /100km) on 175/70R13 tires and stock aluminum rims city driving no highway. and the least i should get is 46km/g (29 mpg ~8.3L / 100km) and i know spark timing is perfect

i might end up taking the advantage and changing the timing chain that way i can inspect everything and make sure everything regarding valve is ok
