RNS 510 / MFD3 fitting

Featured Replies

Hi,

Have anyone tried to fit a RNS 510 / MFD3 ?

I have a problem where i cannot fit the small square connector (the one with the small lock on)

I dont receive any route guidence in my Maxidot so i think that could be the problem also :)

Any help appreciated..

I've fitted one or two in my time yes ;)

You mention a small square connector, do you mean the antenna connector, sort of an off white colour?? If so then the Columbus is designed to have two antenna but the early Octavia only had one so you need to use the innermost connector on the Columbus - It does fit.

If you mean the blue one then that is the GPS antenna and is a different ball game.

As for the route guidance on the Maxidot - Have you coded the car with VCDS?

That connector shouldnt stop the route guidance on the maxidot display, it looks like some sort of video/aux-in or out connection. The MFD3 has a different connector to the original MFD for this purpose.

How stupid can i be. Its the connector for my old "bypass" unit so i could see AUX when driving :) .....

Well now its only the Maxidot i don't have. Is it nessary to go to a skoda shop to get it recoded ?

There is some info on coding here

Octavia-vRS.com - MFD2 Install Guide

however, when I fitted my rns-510 it just worked before the car was even coded. Stu did the coding for me, only to tidy the coding really and stop any unwanted codes being generated. Anybody with vcds and the octy2 interface can code the unit/ecu.
