ICE help wanted 4/9/04 in Peterborough/Leics - who offered?

Featured Replies

Hi

A short while ago someone in the vicinity of Peterborough / Leicester offered to lend me a small hand with the installation of my front component speakers. In the words of Eminem, "would the real ICE installer please stand up? please stand up? please stand up"

I'm gonna be in that area on the Saturday before TRAX and once Jabba's work has finished I fancy dedicating my afternoon to installing my comps, and I'd rather do it in the company of someone who knows what they're doing.

The main bit of work will be simply fitting the comps. I plan to do the wiring to get my OEM door speakers amped pretty soon, so all that will really be needed will be the techie stuff with crossovers/tweeters/spacers etc

Now, the name "JoelVRS" springs to mind who offered to help, but can't remember for sure.

Maybe this thread should be in WAS IT YOU? :D

 ironic eh? But seriously though 4pm onwards sounds OK... I hope its not a huge job - its the spacer issue that I'm gonna struggle to get around, having no knowledge of the best timbers to use, and also bolting them to the door, drilling out the originals (no drill) and manufacturing the spacers (no jigsaw)... About the only thing I can do is use a compass to make a nice circle.

But I'll be fine at 4pm. I think I can take some polishing bits with me to Jabba and once they're done with me I'll have a polishing session in their car-park. :D

You have PM by the way!

Jason as I am only up the road I dont mind coming down and giving you a hand and bringing some tools?

We'll see - depends on how the "too many cooks spoil the broth" saying applies to ICE installation... ;) The most tools needed will be those that can cause most destruction to my door cards! :D

I have a cordless drill if it is needed?

Can i come and watch? Be nice to see Alex again, and meet you in the flesh Jason :)

cheery pip

Jonno.

We'll see how Joel is fixed first ;) Would be nice to know what tools Joel has because I can supply little more than a changeable headed ratchet screwdriver and a few spanners/screwdrivers... Oh, and a small wrench set.

An audience would be welcome, but no laughing and pointing, ok? :D

Promise not to laugh or point. Never been any good at diy, be it cars or home improvements. Just thought it might be nice to see you all :) .

Might even learn something. Don't know much about ICE, but i've got a couple of questions you'll probably be able to answer.

Let me know time and place etc. PM or phone.

cheers

Jonno.

Can I come and watch too? I will be interested to see how door cards are removed with out breaking them, I have a bad track record!

Would also like to learn how to apply aquaseal to the doors! and modify my passive x-overs if anyone can help there . . .

 not sure how much room Joel has on his road for all these Skodas! Upon Joel's request I'll be removing my door cards whilst still in jabba's car park , but anyone is welcome to watch me rip them apart! I know how to do it anyway, kind of "undo all the bolts", take the handle apart in two, and yank the clips out, starting from the bottom, and working my way around toward the hinge. Hope I don't fook it up totally though!

I'm sure Joel will help with all ICE techie things, especially when fitting my X-overs. :D

So is it Jabba car park at 3pm for the door pulling apart lesson ;)

Imagine the neighbours, a skoda invasion!

I am seeing my girlfriend on sat night, she lives in Downham market so from my place in London this is all on the way and the right kind times to fill my day up!

I won`t be pulling my car apart, just looking at what you guys are doing!
