Up till when my last laptop packed up over a year a go I had some websites in the book marks of some mp3 sites that were for up and coming bands, artists, singers etc where they could put their music for others to download for free (and create some publicity for them). I found some of the stuff on the site much better to the actual stuff in the chart etc but cant remember what the sites were called and neither has a quick google done much, can any one help?

This is what MP3.com used to do 10 years ago.

i thought mp3.com went illegal (i.e. free copyright downloads) i just remember i used to get a couple hours worth of unheard/new artists trying to make it and the stuff was much better and made a good change.

It wasn't intentional I don't think, they had a lot of problems with people using it for that and it got cobbered. It was originally set up for artisits to share what they had the rights to, this was about 10 years ago.

i was on my phone last night using wap and came across a link for napster who use to be the king of illegal downloads lol.
