Hello, and advice needed.

Featured Replies

I've been registered on here a while, but now it's time to get really involved as I need to do some work on the Fabia VRS which I've owned from new. It's now out of warranty so I can start "playing". My background is in rallying, won various stage rally championships, mainly in Peugeots, but I'm now looking at low cost motorsport as time is tight and I want to get my kids out competing. I've competed in one Autosolo to date in the Fabia and found it great fun. Shame I couldn't push harder but we were off skiing the week after in the car. I'd like to prepare the car better for Autosolos, but not go over the top, I still want the car to be comfortable-ish on the road, and my son may be taking over the Fabia as his first road car. I'll still be borrowing it though ! I'm looking at improvements/repair in the following areas : - suspension - struts/inserts/springs/shocks, - anti-roll bar bushes, - wishbone bushes, - brakes - pads and discs, - a wee bit more power, - putting the power down, - keeping the handbrake working (I use it way too much as a second steering wheel). Recommendations from anyone on here would be greatly appreciated, plus thoughts on any areas I haven't thought of. I stress that I'm after real functional components, I'm not after "bling", if it works I don't care what it looks like. I don't want the car lowered on the floor as I like taking "interesting" lines which may not be the smoothest. I may also use the car on 12 cars as well so don't want to be dragging the underside everywhere. I also have a 106 XSi which I use for Endurance events, autotests and rougher 12 cars/road events. That will stay as my off road car, I want the Fabia to be more tarmac oriented as I believe it has a lot of potential - the torque and size really help on an Autosolo event, I was surprised who I beat last time out. I'd love to hook up with one company/supplier to develop a winning specification, just as in my rallying days - the package should also work well as a track day/fast road car. I don't know who does exactly what as I've been away from the scene for a while. sos agin, any leads/advice appreciated. BTW I'm in Berks/Bucks. Looking forward to spending time on this forum.
