Been checking out the COMPS...good news too

Featured Replies

Checked out the box of speakers thoroughly this afternoon, as its raining and I can't do anything with the car... So, took some piccies too!

Here's one of the woofers. Seems to be a tiny dent in the cone on one of them, but I doubt that will affect anything - It all looks very intact to me, and they weigh an absolute ton! (which can't be bad)

Then I took a peek at the crossovers, and to be honest can't make head nor tail of it... Seems to be a lot of holes and a lot of places for wires to go in... AFAIK there's two for the main speaker wires, and various lines out to the woofer and tweeter.

Next came the tweeter - nothing special either, but then it also seems to weigh quite a bit for such a tiny bit of audio which I reckon means they're gonna be good too.

And finally came the bit of good news. I thought the mounting depth was over 70mm meaning it MAY have needed some major door card cutting... For all I know it still might, but the bit circled in red below gives me more confidence that won't be necessary. One good thing is the box contains grills for the speakers, so if I need to hack a hole in the door card, there's a nice grill to go over them!

Looking forward to trying to fit them now... one reason I went to look at them again!

that tiny dent will be fine, the crossover looks ok to. 2 of the connections will be for the hu or amp, 2 for the woofer and 2 for the tweater.

Raining in Devon, its lovely and sunny here. spent most of the day cleaning and vacuuming the car.
