Tidying Up MP3 Files

Featured Replies

I've got a reasonably large collection (ax. 60GB) collection of mp3 files.

These have been acquired over a period of time from various "sources" and seem to have a mix of file naming conventions and tagging etc.

There are roughly equal amounts of compilations and individual artists.

I've tried to pull them into itunes as I've just got an iPod but the whole thing seems a bit of a mess.

Can anyone recommend some software that will tidy them up (ID3 tags, standardised file naming conventions, online look-up to recognise albums etc) that is free or cheap.

TIA

Andy

Winamp now has a superbly useful option of auto-tagging. Just set up your playlist, select your songs and send them to be tagged automatically. It connects to some database and fills i3d tags with accurate information.

Use some caution though, last time it changed my Eminem songs to something called "britney spears" :)
