Parking Sensors - Matt Black??

Featured Replies

I am now looking to fit parking sensors to the front and back, and would prefer to fit them in the bumper rubbing strip, as they are less noticeable there, and wondered where people have got them from coloured matt black - or have you just bought any colour and then sprayed them?

I would prefer to get them already coloured, to save time in the garage spraying etc, especially since it is not ideal spraying conditions in the winter months, and can't seem to find any in matt

Cheers for any help you can give

I don't know if this help's but if you take the rear bumper rubbing strip off, there are reference points where to put the sensors then you could buy a primed set and spray them yourself with a can of matt spray from a paint factors or halfrauds:cool:. . .

Thanks for the heads up for the marking points, will look out for them. Is it a bumper off to remove the strip, or is there a way to take them off with the bumpers on?

I've seen bumper style matt balck on other marques, so dont see why not.

It just un-clips on the corners and then pops off, just another thing i was following a black vrs and it had sensors in the bump strip, have you tried skoda to see how they are supplied?

I do believe that factory fitted sensors are set into the bumper below the bump strip, but when I bought my Octavia second hand from my local Skoda dealer I asked for reversing sensors to be fitted. They cost me £300, but they fitted them into the bump strip & they are black not very noticable. Since then I have colour coded the bumpstrips & to colour code the sensors I just painted them with touch up paint. Here's a pic with of the car with everything standard showing the sensors.

And are the parking sensors working ok? I have read that they must not be over 50 cm from the ground ... And the middle of the bumb strip is 57 cm ...

I personally would get the Cobra four sensor parking system (cheap on ebay) paint the sensors body colour and mount them under the strip, works everytime for me.

Factory fit ones are about an inch and a half down from the bumper strip, but lots of folks have them in the bumper strips with no issues. I fitted aftermarket ones in the bumper where standard ones fit , these came colour coded silver and were an exact match to the silver paintwork.

This will give you an idea of what you can get qute cheap.
