deal on a wheel?

Featured Replies

Parked the car in my usual spot today, as I have done literally hundreds of times before - nose up nice and tight to the wall...near side wheels just a couple of inches from that (very) low level wall so I've got plenty of space on my side...what the...!! who moved the wall??

oops :o, looks like a slight misjudgement has totally wrecked the appearance of my front near side alloy :(. Just brushed the low wall, but it's built of those rough rustic-type bricks and it's done a very good job of ruining about a quarter of the surface of the wheel - kerbing rib on the tyre didn't help much :thumbdwn: (makes it look as if the wife's been driving :D).

So, does anyone know where I can get a new rim at lower cost than one of SUK's finest will charge me?

The rim is a 17" X-tended (I'm not even going to ask if anyone has a spare one...)

cheers

Bummer :(

I'm unsure of that this rim is, am I being ignorant? Have you a pic?

It'd help describe the damage as well

Hi

It's one of these babies...

cheers

If it was a real low-speed scrape it would be easier to refurb it. £50 is a usual price, but you might have to leave it with a place for a week or so, so will need to run round on the spare wheel. :)

Yeah, I agree with Jason - it'll certainly be cheaper (and easier) than trying to find a new wheel!

Sounds like a refurb job as you don't see many of those wheels about on the road let alone in any classifieds or on Ebay............or it's time to get some aftermarket rims............:D

aftermarket rims...? you'll have me dropping it 30mm next!

I've checked ebay - nothing doing - and I've got the details of a local refurb company, so I'll get a quote from them. If I go that route, then I'll get some before and after pics.

EDIT: just got a price from a stealer - £167.58 plus VAT

not too surprising though I suppose. However, the price in the accessory brochure (from 2006) that provided the picture I posted is £133. Some increase :thumbdwn:
