Looks like VAG are now superceeding their old DOT4 brake fluid with a new Super DOT4, it carries the same part number. Having a quick flick through the specs on the back it would seem the wet boiling point for the old fluid was 175 degrees. The Super DOT4 is quoted on the bottle as 265 degrees, designed for newer ABS/ESP systems it would be suitable for all vehicles that used DOT4 and can be mixed no problems although this would alter the specs.

Having had some truly scary moments in an Octy II running 288mm brakes with the standard fluid, I can say this is a very good thing.

If the wet boiling point on the new one is 265*C that's pretty much as good as Castrol SRF (IIRC 270*C) which is about £30-40 per litre.

I've got some DOT 5.1 lined up for the next brake fluid change already, but I'll consider the VAG stuff instead next time.

Local dealer has this on the shelves as I was in there for some parts.

It's stating a boiling point of 265 but didn't mention wet or dry on the bottle.

Either way it comes in at about £7-8 for a 1L bottle, which isn't a bad price at all compared to the retail price of similar brake fluids elsewhere.
