I used the best pics they sent me.

 At least the lump's gone!

:bigcry:

Ruined it!! Much preferred the quirky look! It maybe ugly but you don't see it from the inside!!! Wife's has done 30k miles now, never gone wrong and averages 47 to the gallon, seats six what more could one ask for a family motor?

there was a new one parked near my house last night.. looked kinda strange without the google eyes....

I love the proper front on the Multipla it is nice to be different when all cars are looking so similar now.

I drove a hired one a couple of years ago. Drove just fine untill the dash mount gear stick came off in my hand will driving. Decided at that point I would never again accept a Fiat from a car hire place let alone buy one. Simple discription - death trap! There I was on the M5 headins South from Bristol, with no way to get the bloody car into gear (came off half way through a 4th to 5th gear switch).

Cue a Carry On "It came off in my hand" ... "Oooooh, Matron" :naughty: ;)

You do seem to have a knack of finding problem cars don't you.

Perhaps, I certainly would not describe myself as being lucky :). Still I drive hired cars over in England several times a year, so I do get to sample a far range of cars. Some much better than others. For example the week end before last I was driving a hired Mondeo LX 2.0L. with which I was pleasantly surprised.

New Mondeos are very nice to drive. You've just got to overcome:

1. the badge

2. the dealers. :( :finger:

Owned 2 of the 'bug-eyed' ones, and covered over 50k miles between them. Worst thing was a sticky handbrake in freezing weather. Sorted under warranty. One of the most reliable cars I've ever owned. And, yes, I miss the old styling. Liked the strange space-ship on wheels look. But the new shape may be a bit more efficient - fast motorway cruising would reduce the diesel to 28mpg...

But you will struggle to find a better, more comfortable car to move 6 people and their luggage. And the handling is good!

My parents owned 2 of the proper shaped ones and I loved them, my dad's last one had a tuning box too and it was quick. I have fond memories of blatting down country lanes with my dad in the Lakes scaring the what-not out of barries

I would not struggle at all. Vauxhall Zafira looks better, drives better and can carry 7 rather than 6. Also I am sure the VW Touran is also better and can have 7 seats. Neither of these are likely to shed a gear lever mid Motorway. Let me ask you this if they are so great why did you go through 2 in only 50k miles? I usually do 80K or more miles per car before changing it.

Vauxhall Zafira IMO does not handle better, even the petrol turbo Zafira could not stay with the diesel Multipla around Goodwood. No difference in drivers ability either as we swapped over! VW Touran not price comparable! Shedding gear lever was known fault and covered by recall on a small batch of cars, happened to ours but does not leave you starnded as it is only the cover that comes off leaving the metal underneath.

It comes off leaving the short metal stick, not the easiest thing to grapple with while travelling at speed in an unfamiliar car (that even when the knob is on has the gear stick in an odd location). Gear lever aside, I will however admit that the car was nicer than a Scenic or Picasso and much much nicer than the full size Peugot MPV (not the current one the one before). However I found the Zafira to be more car like to drive than the Multipla. On the whole if the gear lever had not come off I would have liked the car.

Zafira has zero luggage space with 6/7 people in it - the Multipla has enough space for all the holiday luggage for the occupants. No other MPV currently available (the Honda FRV may change this!) has the same combination of qualities as the Multipla. Why did I have 2? Because some toe-rag broke into No. 1, and the (immediate) cost of fixing that car was the same as swapping to a newer one with alloys, climate, twin sunroofs, etc. As I said, no problems with either car, and they both had a hard life!

Oh, and get a windsurfer into another car - bet you'd struggle, but I used to get mine & a passenger in the multipla!

Cars only faults (apart from the looks!) was fuel consumption & noise at high (illegal) motorway speeds

I was travelling in the Multipla carrying the luggage for 6 people for a two week trip. Only me and one other could fit in the Multipla. We had to hire a Feista for the other 4 people. I admit we could have carried a middle person in the front of the Multipla, but it would have been cramped and uncomfortable. In comparison with a Zafira I would say that both only really comfortably cater for 5, with the extra 2 in a Zafira being really only for kids and the 6 or possibly 5 and 6th in a Multipla really being for kiddys.

Still appears to me to be made by 'Fisher-Price'.

Hate FIATS!

I though it was another " white van ".

SWMBO shouts ( yes shouts ) "UGLY CAR" every time she sees 1 ( of the originals )

It was NEVER a euro box, you knew what it was without having to look at the badge,

Steve
