EGR Valve Removal

Featured Replies

I have noticed that my EGR Valve has been leaking from the connecting pipe underneath. I have been told that it may need to be replaced...

However, apparently you can just remove it and just use a pipe like this:

NEW EGR Valve Power Pipe VW Golf Audi Seat Skoda Tdi on eBay, also Engine Tuning Parts, Performance Tuning Parts, Car Tuning Styling, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 08-Jan-09 23:03:33 GMT)

Is this true, Does it affect performance?

Is this easy to fit yourself?

Thanks

There is stacks of info on here regarding EGR valves if you do a search but in a nutshell; yes you can replace them with the pipe quoted (or the one from Jabbasport - see the Jabbasport section on this forum), the replacement pipes are supplied with instructions (Jabbasport one is anyway), no real improvement in performance though it does help to prevent youre inlet manifold becoming clogged with soot.

The downside with them is that you lose the anti-shudder valve which means you may get a slight shudder through the engine when you switch it off, and you'll get a CEL light on your dash but this can be mapped out.

easy peasy...

works with oem pipework too... as above you lose the anti shudder valve so engine switches off as if a stall and you get a CEL light both of which i havent really bothered about LOL
