Rear parking sensors

Featured Replies

Well - I'm here again and now have the long beep for the fourth time with the car now just over 3yrs old. The other three occasions have been sensors and all replaced under warranty. I took out an extended warranty in November last year ( as a result of "The kick inside" saga ) and phoned them this morning. Good news I'm covered!!

Car going in to Dealers on Tuesday next week - asked them to ensure they had sensors in stock - - BUT was told we may have them in but we can't just order them in until we know that they are faulty??

I would have thought that the crap manufacture of these sensors would have made it a necessity to hold them in stock. Let's hope they do have them or it will be another trip to Dealer.

I have had 4 other cars (inc Wife's) over the past 6 yrs and NEVER had a sensor fail in any of them (Ford, Vauxhall, Renault).

Of course there is also the possibility it is not a sensor this time??

Update:

I spoke to the Spares Manager at Dealers and he has assured me there will be sensors in stock when I take the car in next Tuesday - just in case. Full Marks to Russell.

I knew you would be along on this one before too long. Yes he's great and has been very helpful to me in the last 2yrs. Good news about ti being covered on the Extended warranty also. BUT I notice that Water ingress is NOT covered. Hope the pollen filter mod I had done works ok?

Well - only one week after fitting a new sensor and all working fine I am back to them playing up again. BUT this time it is a different symptom. When engaging reverse I get the normal short beep (as though they are working fine) but then a continuous beep that is the same tone. It is as though I am parked right up against a wall. Booked in again next Thursday - but any ideas anyone. Every time I have had a problem it has always started with the long high pitched tone - never this before?

Also does anyone know who makes the OEM sensors or are they VAG own crap. I feel like complaining to the manufacturer at the number I have had replaced in 2yrs = 4 now possibly 5?

Funny you should ask...

I've just had to replace one on my superb. that grinding noise you could hear this morning in Doncaster was my teeth... paying £75+vat for a reversing sensor!

Looking at the dud I have, they're made in Italy by Meta System Automotive

part number 3U0 919 275 B

Thanks Dave and for the link.

have sent an email telling them what I think of their quality product and whether they intend to change spec and get something that lasts longer. As previously stated I have had retro fit sensors on Corsa and clio - no problems in 4 yrs. Also OEM on a Fiesta (wife's car) 3yrs no problems. These as I say 4 in two yrs and now probably 5.

What a Load of C**P!

Just tried to send an email to these people - they won't respond unless you are a Trader. I wonder why??

I still intend to get in touch with the Regional Service Centre for South and South east tomorrow and ask for details of how I get to the actual Company.

Looks like I have the same problem. Car just reaching the end of warranty so I have booked it in quick to get sorted. This is the first problem I have had of any kind with the Superb from new. I normally change after 3 years but am very happy with this car so am in for the long haul. Did the Skoda dealer do the extended warranty, how much did it cost?

Yes - cost was £360 for the year and included full RAC cover (Skoda Assist)

This was last November.

Not bad with the RAC included I suppose. I'll speak to them when the car goes in. Cheers.
