New Fabia 3 ordered

Featured Replies

Went into Progress Skoda in Letchworth at the weekend while visiting my parents and found an unregistered (1.4 petrol) 3 with about £1,500 worth of extras sitting forlornly on ramps outside needing a new home. After some negotiation (mainly between me and the wife) and a hefty discount and excellent PCP quote we ordered it. Just got to contain my wife until she can pick it up Saturday morning.

Is there anything I should be checking for on collection, any recall work that should have been done?

Hi spencem, and a big congratulations on ordering the car. You and your wife won't be disapointed. The 1.4 petrol is a nice little engine and even better in my opinion than the 1.6 (not disrepecting any of you 1.6 owners you understand!). The 1.6 is fine but in terms of performance and cost, you don't get much more that the 1.4 gives. Recalls...you shouldn't need to worry. Check with your dealer but you should find anything that needed attention has had it by now. These Skoda's have a very low recall rate compared to other manufacturers due to the time and care the manufacturers take in the first place, and the quality (generally) of the dealers.

Please do us all a favour and post regularly on your experiences with your new car. Don't be afraid to ask questions either. There are some really knowledgeable people on here that have helped me.

ENJOY!

Hi

Not sure about recall things but take your time to both look over the car and give it a thorough inspection, looking for small dings in the bodywork.

There shouldn't be any but look anyway.

Have a good look inside too, particular on the door sills of all four doors to check for scuffs/scratches of mechanics/valeters.

Also, have a look at the rear hatchback, at the paint above the top of the rear window. I didn't spot that mine was patchy on collection. Really looks a mess in direct sunlight. It should be the body colour all along and there should be no light coloured primer evident.

Other than that it is a very good, solid car.

Apart from all the normal checks, see if you have a " 3 " badge on the rear mine did other,s have said they didn't, if not fitted I believe it can be found in the glove box ,enjoy the new car, i have a 3 1.9 TD and have found it to be excellent with good dealer service

What colour did you get?

It's Storm Blue with the optional white roof.

A quick question, the dealer says it has cornering fog lights, but when it started up the main headlights 'wobbled' from side to side so I think it has the full cornering lights rather than just the fogs?

Does anyone else have them and is there a way to check for certain? Are they any good?

Sounds to me like it's got the full cornering headlight system!

If you look under the boot floor there is a white sticker with lots of 3 or 4 digit codes written on it, I can find out what the code is for cornering headlights tommorow for you if you like.

If you don't mind James that would be great, thanks!

You'll find the same data sticker on the inside of your service book also, on the first page.

Cornering Headlights with Cornering Foglights is option code PK6 and just cornering fogs is PWA.

Got the car yesterday no problems except the cover is missing from the 12v socket under the hand break so need to call in and pick one up next time I'm near the dealers.

A few photos before it got dirty.

We had it 'AutoGlymed' and yes it has got the bendy headlights.:)

Oh you're talking about the car... I thought you'd bought the blue scissor lift!!!

What do you think to the headlights?

They hadn't got the V5 through for the lift, otherwise I'd have had it away.:D

The headlights take some getting used to, but are very good on the back roads at night.
