Advice on wiper motor

Featured Replies

Today i noticed that my rear wiper keeps going whether the stalk is on either position. :o

I'm thinking that it's the stalk........ Had to dis-connect it to stop it :thumbdwn:

Any other ideas on what this could be?

Any idea on how much a stalk likely to be?

Any other likely cause this could be?

Thanks

Al

is it leaking?

mine leaked thus shorting the electrics next to it so it went on its own,no matter where the stalk was.

the leak wasnt fixable by taking it apart and repairing so got a new one

new one was £71.57 pn 1u6955711b

The same thing happened to me over Christmas. I did a search and found out that it was likely to be water in the rear wiper motor. The washer feed goes through the motor and doesn't always seal well. I took the plastic cover off the rear hatch and undid the seven (IIRC) torqx screws holding on the motor cover. When I did so a load of water ran out - proving it was the problem. I sealed the shaft with fernox non-setting sealant (available from b&q or screwfix for about £5) and so far I haven't had anymore problems. I guess time will tell. I also cleaned the gearbox and re-greased it before putting it all back together.

OK just looked at wiper motor..... No signs of water in there, All looks ok but there was (what looks like) burnt residue on the circuit board, think it may need a new wiper motor. Any thing else i can try.

Thanks
