Now running 4 bar map sensor

Featured Replies

but there is still something odd going on and I am still running the remap from summer 2007.... Experimenting. :D

The consequence of having the 4 bar map sensor though is I am seeing 2.5 bar overboost and sustained boost around 2.3/2.2 bar, falling to 2 bar as the redline approaches. Feels a little more urgent now, so might be a bit faster.

what boost were you seeing before?

About 1.8 sustained

Current boost levels, although nice, are not ideal as it's not the mapping telling it to push more, it's just the fact I've gone to a new sensor with a different set of calibration settings, etc.

All should be sorted soon but for the moment the car feels pretty good in an uncontrolled way.

So explain to me why would you need a 4 bar map sensor when running 2.5 bar boost max????

Oooooh dont be telling kev.

Its all a waste of time in his eyes.

So when is she back on the rollers with the snow performance etc??

Got the part number etc handy? I have a feeling mine is gonna need that too, the turbo will take it but fuelling is probably not going to get me this kind of boost just yet I guess :)

4 bar includes atmospheric pressure too, so the stock 3 bar sensor can only read up to 2 bar of actual turbo boost. :) You need a 4 bar sensor to be able to get up to 3 bar of actual boost reliably.

Bosch part number is 0 281 002 316 but I would hang fire until we found out why mine needed a resistor making up to take away half a volt from one of the wires for the map sensor to allow the car to read it and not bring up "implausible correlation" fault code, and instant limp mode from starting the car up.

Back on rollers 7th Feb @ JKM. Hoping for a run on diesel only, and then with water/methanol.

Will be good to see, pending circumstances etc etc I will try to make it :)
