Hi

The following error has been detected on my car

Control Module Part Number: 06A 906 032 T

Component and/or Version: 1.8L R4/5VT 0003

Software Coding: 05510

Work Shop Code: WSC 33103

1 Faults Found:

17748 - Camshaft Position Sensor (G40) / Engine Speed Sensor (G28): Incor. Correlation

P1340 - 35-00 - -

What could be the problem?

I drive a Leon 20VT Sport, AUQ engine code so is the same as the Octy vRS.

Any help will be much apreciated

Here is another decode of the error from Bentley Publishers VW Diagnostic Trouble Codes table:

DTC 17748: Crankshaft-/Camshaft Pos.Sens.Signals Out of Sequence

Is easy to replace and not uncommon to fail..

(mine went at 63k)

An impulse sender crankshaft for the AUQ is £73.00.

What fails? The camshaft position sensor or the engine speed sensor?

Did your car react in anyway? My car seems to run fine.

Did you feel any loss of power or any other strange thing?

Seemed to run fine but had some other major problems at same time - don't *think* they were related but I would advise do it very soon nonetheless!

I get the same 17748 error on my RS. Is it enough to replace the Camshaft Positions Sensor?

Anyone here has a guide on how to do it?

Regards, Martin

Has the cambelt been changed?

That corrolation fault is not a sensor fault usually, its picking up that the cam and crank are out of sync.

Yes the error occured after a cambelt ****. If they where out of sync the engine would not run fine?? The engine runs fine.

Can it be synced in any other way that just checking that the belt sits as the old belt did??

So I shouldnt change the sensor? Further up in this thread a sensor shift is suggested .... im confused...

Regards, Martin

I suspect the cam sensor was changed on Tavia 4x4's car for a different reason.

I agree with Lummox as it a synchronisation fault the belt will be a tooth out. Had this one before from experience, the technician swore blind that the new belt ent on in exactly the correct position, on inspection it was a tooth out.

This was found to be the case in the other thread, its fairly obvious when you look at what the fault is actually saying. Its not saying there is a fault with the sensors, its saying there is a fault in what the sensors are seeing.
