Parking Sensers

Featured Replies

Hi ALL

Thinking of putting on rear parking sensers on my 08 classic. Do u need to take of the bumper and if so how please and also what kit would u reccomend? and is it easy enough to do .

Many Thanks. RZR

A quick search and you have a couple of good descriptions om how to remove the bumper:

Although you don't have to remove the bumper it will make the job of running the wires through a grommet so much easier.

Personally i would fit a genuine Skoda kit (eBay is your friend here, genuine kits appear every now and then) failing that a good quality aftermarket kit with flush sensors (they look so much better). I did this to my old Octavia and it was a piece of cake.

Thanks for the info, would u put the control box at drivers side or passengers side? and is there holes in the bumper beneath the black trim to show the position where the sensers would fit in the bumper and just wondering if gromet is there already to feeed cables in to the boot area?

Cheers RZR

IIRC the OEM ones are fitted on the drivers side, don't be tempted to splice into the like feed (from reversing light) by using a scotch lock 'bodge block' like these:

They are not right or clever and will give you or the next owner trouble in the long run, do it properly.

I personally have not taken my Superb rear bumper off (i took the Octavia one off though).

Pop the black trim off and there is normally holes in the bumper, if so it may be easier to drill the holes from the inside of the bumper, IIRC i just measured where they should be and drilled through the trim and bumper.

There is usually a grommet already there for things like parking sensors and tow bar wires to run through.
