Alloy wheels - laquer failing

Featured Replies

I've had alloy wheels on almost all my previous cars but never experienced the laquer finish failing like this before . Two of my wheels feature several blemishes like the examples below. My car's an '06 vRS with just over 30k under its belt. In fact, two of the tyres are still the factory fitted ones - just! I'm going to raise this problem with the dealer (and the c-pillar leak - see other thread) before my warranty runs out in April. Anyone else had similar problems sorted by Skoda? I'm after two new wheels at least.

there gonna say your using too strong an acid based wheel cleaner, so id suggest you say you wax them and only wash them in shampoo

this of course may be what you do anyway !.......i do

The wheels are a known problem!

mine have had numerous coats of Supaguard and they're starting to go.

Yes mine have the same problem but not as bad as these ones mine is a 55 plate think its a known problem with these wheels

One of mine went like that around the valve and skoda replaced it under warranty. But next time i went down the guy wasnt happy, apparenty skoda rejected the claim when they sen tthe wheel in so it came out of the garages pocket!

Its a trait of most VAG wheels to be honest.

Got one replaced under warranty. Had very similar bubbling to yours.

Should mention that Park's, Hamilton rejected my claim but Henry's, Glasgow contacted Skoda UK and hey presto, new wheel, no sweat.

Had the same problem with mine, now it's got OZ's.
