Felicia Rally Project

Featured Replies

Hi everyone!

I have just bought a 1999 Felicia 1.6 slxi to use as a basis for a rally car. I have been searching the net for places to get used competition parts (rollcage, suspension and bits and pieces etc) but seem to be getting no-where fast!!

I chose this car as they have good competition history and thought it would be fairly easy getting hold of parts - but not having much luck at the moment!! I have been off the rallying scene for a few years now and feel a little out of touch!

Could anyone give me some tips / point me in the right direction?

Any help will be much appreciated!!!!

Cheers

You need to go East! To the Czech Republic, loads of people still rally them there :)

welcome along

Hello :)

Hiya.

We're probably the place to start, on the Favorit, Felicia et al forum. The Motorsport forum is more about events and international news than about car preparation.

Best tip i can give is DONT BUILD, buy a completed car, it will save you thousands!

Then if you must tinker, rebuild it, this way you know how things work and that they are in good condition.

Forgot to say:

Get yourself a copy of the 2009 'blue book', lots of rules have changed recently with regard to safety, things like harnesses and (soon to be IIRC) seats need to be homologated (and in date).

Britishrally.co.uk is a really good site, most people on there compete and will give you loads of information on the new rules and where to source your parts.

Before you buy a single thing for your car, price up what all the parts will cost you, compare this to a fully built and logbooked car, you will then see for yourself how much you can save.

Most of (if not all) the Felicia rally cars will be 1.3's as you will be outclassed (power wise) in the 1.6 class, so stand little chance of a decent class position on events.

Another possibility might be to buy a bent rally car and transfer the bits into your shell, just beware that things like sumpguards, seats and rollcages may be slightly bent if its had a decent 'off' the harnesses would also need replacing in this case.

A better bet would be to get one with a tired shell (forest roads take their toll on a shell)
