Impossible performance remap

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm looking to get my standard Mk1 Octavia VRS remapped, I used impossible performance on my last octavia vrs and had it custom mapped, back in about 2005! This time I am considering their generic map. What are the real differences between their generic and custom maps... what have they changed? I know they used to use Upsolute... I take it they don't any more? I've been quoted prices for the generic and custom and there is about £60 difference in price, is it worth going for the custom map on a standard car? Am I going to see any real gains?

Any advice would be much appreciated, Cheers, Scott

Now that Mike has a Rolling Road at Canterbury, go for the custom as he can set the car up properly.

Ring him and ask him what are his opinions on his generic and custom and be guided by him.

There's a huge difference in price with generic (postal) remaps from companies like ecu evolution in South Wales, who do a complete postal remap service for £100 compared to the cheapest custom remap for £280 (well that's the cheapest I could find)

I guess you get what you pay for though...

I was going to get an ecu evo remap on mine, but now the money is going on new engine mounts:(

If and when I get mine remapped I will be going for IP because it's close and people like Gerry have had good results from Mikes maps.

I remember there were a few vRS's at the rolling road day that had previously had generic Upsolute maps from IP (some of them didn't even realise their cars had been remapped but the computer picked it up), and they were making the same BHP figures as our standard vRS's, so I would only go for a generic map from IP if they have stopped using Upsolute maps. A custom map from them would be the ideal thing as Gerry says but they're not that cheap and I don't think it's worth it if you're not changing the exhaust / intake etc.
