Puzzled! - Odd VED rate for Superb S 1.9Tdi

Featured Replies

Just checked the tax disc on my new Superb and was surprised to discover the amount charged for 12 months tax was £126.00.

I was under the impression my Superb emits 151g/km, putting it into Band D. This would equate to 12 months tax at £145.00. Even in Band C, the 12 months rate is £120.00, so where does the £126.00 figure come from?

According to the brochure the 1.9 PD has a CO2 of 150 putting it into band C. However checking this online at VCAcarfueldata.org.uk - Search Results - Further Information gives a figure of 151 which is band D. No idea where the £126 came from though!

it is possible for new car dealers to get tax for additional days, so £120 plus a few days=£126

Should I check the actual emissions with the dealer or leasing company, as if the ACTUAL emissions are lower than 151 g/km this may reduce my company car tax liability.
