Useful Firefox 3 Shortcuts

Featured Replies

I thought I'd compile a list of the most used keyboard shortcuts for my installation of Firefox 3. These shortcuts may also work on earlier versions of Firefox, but I'm not entirely sure :)

Ctrl/Cmd + Click: Opens link in new tab (You can change if or if not this tab is switched to immediately by going to Tools > Options > Tabs and choosing your preferred settings)

Ctrl/Cmd + W: Closes the currently active tab

Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + W: Reopens the last closed tab (very useful for me!!)

Ctrl/Cmd + T: Opens a blank new tab

Ctrl/Cmd + L: Focus cursor in location bar (where you normally type URLs)

Alt + Left or Right Arrow: Forward or back respectively

Ctrl/Cmd + Tab: Navigate to next tab

Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + Tab: Navigate to previous tab

Ctrl/Cmd + Plus Sign: Increase font size

Ctrl/Cmd + Dash: Reduce font size

Ctrl/Cmd + 0: Reset font size (this and two above can be done by holding Ctrl/Cmd and scrolling with middle mouse scroller if you have one)

Normal navigation shortcuts apply - such as Ctrl/Cmd + Home takes you to the top of the page, Ctrl/Cmd + End takes you to the bottom of the page...

A comprehensive list of keyboard shortcuts for Firefox can be found here. I have only listed the ones I use on a daily basis above.. I only ever use my mouse to point and click really :D

Keeping mac users happy - added /Cmd to all instances of Ctrl

Yes they've worked for quite a while ;)

Ctrl/Cmd + L: Focus cursor in location bar (where you normally type URLs)

Or F6...

Will be useful for people I reckon

I figured most of them have been around since Firefox 1 or so but felt that it would be a useful thread regardless ;)
