Light squeely noise on start up

Featured Replies

Got a light squeel on start up as this clip right at the beginning, but not the big squeel noise as in the clip. Might turn into the big squeel if not looked into though.

Only happened the last 2 days when really cold, Is it the drive belt slipping ?

Cheers:thumbup:

I have that on my Octavia SLXi 1999. Only on cold mornings it happens, I am not sure why it is doing it, don't think it is slipping.

My neighbours car does exactly the same thing everytime it starts! But he has a Seat Leon 2002 model. The engines are very similar.

Cheers mate.

I hear it on loads of cars and I know the wheather has a big impact. (has on my car this winter) Just want to be prepared to get it sorted if it carries on.

No worries mate :)

On older cars it'sthe alternater belt slipping as the alternator provides the initial high charge to the battery ,after the battery has had to do more work and therefore discharged itself more than normal .

.Solution -tighten the belt .

Second solution -get the battery checked -as it might not be holding full charge .
