Hi All,

I had a remap done on my fabia vRS yesterday and according to the read out its now producing 172bhp...However, I have noticed nothing when driving it...It feels exactly the same and I'm sure the guy has conned me. He done most of it in front of me, like took the ECU out and stuff and done something and then done a rolling road and that...But im convinced something is wrong, its smoking silly amounts aswell??

Usually, is it very noticiable when its remapped? Have I been conned?

Any advice will be helpful.

I think somehow that you would notice a 40bhp increase

Either:

1) Your car was remapped before and you didn't know

or

2) You've been conned; I hope you didn't do a cash in hand transaction

Take it elsewhere for a rr session and see what its got

Do most mappers remove the ECU when doing this ???????

Where did you have it done?

I thought the ECU didn't need to be removed on newer models? Unless it's a stupid resistor in a box he's sneakily fitted.

lots of smoke could be a popped hose?

you would notice..... it is possible it was already remapped..... or as someone else said, no remap , and cheap resister box put on....

What was the readout before the chipping and 172bhp?

I thought that all good stage 1 maps on the Fabia VRS were done through the ODB port and the ECU wasn't removed at all!

mine was just done through a laptop no removal of ecu necesssary! dunno what hes done there. surely though if he was an experienced mapper he could see if it had been previously mapped?

3 hours to Jabab for me although i'm about 43 gee-gee's down on Symon we'll put that down to standard versus uprated turbos

And Tony there is no way you wouldn't notice it! I nearly fired myself into the centre of a roundabout after having my first TDi remapping experience on my old Ibiza!

Even if it was just a resistor fit you would notice a big difference over standard. I had a resistor first then a dragon box. The dragon box only made it smoother and less smoky.
