epc light on in mk2 vrs

Featured Replies

pulled out car park today, stuck my foot down to get out in time, when the wheels span the EPC light flashed on and it went into limp mode.

not happy to say the least. anyway i have removed my bluefin map to see if that would clear it. it hasnt so i am going to call skoda ssistance tomorrow.

has anybody used skoda assistance.do they come out to you and can they tell you the fault there and then.

Now i know EPC is electronice power control, so obviously it must be an electrical fault. what are the common faults with the epc. i read in a thread that could be coils. hopefully its not to serious.

anybody any ideas

Calm down and take a deep breath.

You are running a remapped car, these things happen.

EPC does not mean an electrical fault. It could be something as simple as a wayward ABS sensor reading to an over boost, fuel cut or intake manifold runners.

I don't have one but am I right in thinking that BF is also a code reader?

With a bit of luck Skoda Assist will send a proper RAC VW tech.

At least he should be able to read the fault codes which cold be done with VCDS/VAG-COM or your Bluefin handset can read them as well.

Get your coat on its cold out.

EDIT: Beaten to it.

To clarify -

These are just examples, it could be one of a great number of things to be honest.

With the mods you have and those that you list as being planned you need to add VCDS to your wanted list. You are pushing boundries, things will happen and Skoda Assist aren't going to be there everytime.

prob is im in uk at the moment, my bluefin software is on my desktop in germany so i cant read the faults.

ill ask them to send a vw rac tech tomoow then, at least i can find out the cost of any reapairs as im sure my warrantee is void.

is there a set distance is should stay under in limp mode. as the skoda deslership is a fair way away incl a motorway stint. im not sure if it can sustain motorway speed or not. dont wanna damage it further

what is VCDS

VCDS is the new name for VAG-COM. You don't need a desktop to read the codes.

bluefin - help desk

been to the car this morning. the only option my bluefin handset gives me is to immobilise the car. so i thought id try that(justs for ****s and giggles), weird thing was when i un-immobilised my car the EPC fault lamp was off. pretty random i thought.

however i have specifically asked for an RAC rep equipped with vag com or vcds to come out and check it anyway.

the crap thing is though where i restored my original map, i forgot that my stage 1 map isnt on the handset, the stage 2 map is and i havent got the exhaust fitted yet so im going to have to trunter around with the standard 197bhp.

right we have the results.

I have 2 problems, the fuel pressure regulator valve-(open circuit)

and the high pressure fuel sender(sensor)

just spotted this link actually. think slide 8 from lummox explains it

http://briskoda.net/octavia-ii/vrs-fuel-system-problems-petrol/131064/

does anybody have any idea when this recall was made. I never knew anything of a recall mention coming to me, Maybe mine was built after the recall or they never bothered with letting me know. mine is a sept 2007 57 plate

right we have the results.

These are known to be an issue, VW have acknowledged it I think.

u can virtually guarantee they wont replace mine as i have a remap though. lol.

any ideas on rough prices and what labour is likely to be. the fuel pressure sender looks to be a right pain to get at so i imagine it will be a a costly

You might be ok, especially as it's a 'known' issue.

Just put it in to them and let them do the detective work.

oh ill definately try that option first, i just wanted to brace myself for a possible cost.
