PSU loads

Featured Replies

So what are our considered opinions on the wattage PSU required for the following:

Q6600 Quad core

GTX 260 SC graphics card

full compliment of hdd, dvd,

x38 or p45 chipset mobo (like an Asus P5QC or similar)

If you get yourself something around the 800W mark and make sure it's a good quality supply then you should, in my opinion, be just fine. To be safe there are tools out there that let you tot up your total power consumption.

I'm assuming full compliment is 2HDDs and 1 DVD drive and obviously it's just my guess based on a similar system.

Thats a fairly beasty system!!!

I'm running mine of a sub 600w Enermax PSU.

965DS3 Motherboard

Q6600 (not the GoSLACR one) at stock speed

2GB RAM

2x500GB HD's

7900GTX

Copes pretty well

You're def going to need something high end to power top flight graphics cards/systems if used for games and more productive/intensive use.

I've got a 700w Thermaltake jobbie with:

Q6600 (G0 stepping)

4GB Ram (2 sticks)

Abit mobo with Nvidia 650i chipset

1 HDD

2 DVD

8800GTX

Runs it with no problems... don't think it even begins to struggle at load

So yeh would reccomend a good quality 800w one and that should see you good!
