The following sensor needs replacing and my local garage (a VAG specialist) has said that it needs replacing sooner rather than later. All I want to know is:

1) Could this cause an increase in fuel usage if left to long?

2) What sort of damaged there be if left to long?

and

3) Been quoted £85 (can't remember if he said including VAT or plus VAT) including fitting. Is this a fair price?

1) Apparently though I never noticed

2) Again I suffered none over the extended period but I wouldn't recommend it as knowing the engine temp is vital

3) Sounds fair for a garage if it includes the housing.
