Fabia VRS vs Astra SRI

Featured Replies

Whats the differences between the 2? Are the 150 models quicker than a VRS?

Just wondering as a friends getting one.

well i pulled away from a standard 150 in my mapped Fabia, standard vs. standard would be tight

on my M6 ;)

Mincing is bad

I believe standard is slower than the astra (if its the new shape)

I can confirm that in standard firm I came up against a CDTI SRI 3 door "sporthatch", from a roundabout 25mph to 75mph I was in front and he gradually came by (slowly, but he came by), I gave him a wave and he did the same and went on his way.

So yes in standard form they are quicker.

my mate use to work for Vauxhall and had one of these SRI 150's for his company car.

id say they're quite evenly matched (both in standard form)

we raced, lots of wheelspin off the line from my vrs (standard w/ poor tyres) and still managed to keep my bonnnet in front, didnt pull away at all mind and vice-versa on other occasions

But did he press the sport button?

The sport button doesnt increase the power it just alters the point of full throttle for example half throttle with the sport button pressed will be full throttle. it would hardly produce a Clear all out win for the astra. it does however make the drive alot more "sporty" as the button indicates.

Yes the Astra is over a second faster to 60. and handles better than a VRS if comparing standard cars.

However Astras do depreciate faster han Fabias and I would say there is more Qudos in owning a sporty Skoda. No one notices the better Astra SRI 150 on the road but would be more impressed with a Skoda VRS plus the Skoda quality and dealers seem to care more.

The astra is a lovely looking car, but when I was looking at cars they commanded too high a price.

Common as muck though.

Every man and his dog has one.

I had a blast with one once, both behind a lorry on a sliproad. Both nailed it onto the motorway at about 35-40mph. Was close, but my Fabia got him. Wasnt that impressed with it TBH...

Mines is standard BTW...

i'm goin to santa pod to race a sri thats been remapped to 206bhp my vrs is kicking out 180bhp should be fun fingers crossed

Mincing is bad

But you are a mincer are you not ? :P :D

so the Astra is better, but you'd rather have the Skoda cos it impresses total random strangers as you drive along the road?

as far as 1/4 miles are concerned, my mapped fabia is just slightly faster than the astra. i dont know if anything was done to the astra. and i dont know an exact figure on my output from the map (as its generic, yes i am cheap). but wen i was on the road they were left in my black reek that seems to billow out of my standard exhaust!!!

Yeh!

mate had a 5door cdti sri astra witha tuning box in it supposedly took it to 206bhp...after a little race in my 180bhp fabia he couldnt get past me...he could keep on my back bumper tho...roughly the same...standard a think the astra would beat a standard fabia...
