Loads of Hot Air!

Featured Replies

Dear Briskoda Readers,

My 2005 Octavia Estate (2.0 FSI) now is only able to emit warm air from the climatronic system, regardless of whether I use the fan manually or have the climate switched on in auto mode.

The only way to get any remotely cool air out is to turn the temp control down to minimum. From 16 c upwards all we get is warm air, regardless of the outside conditions.

Is this a simple need for an aircon recharge (which it has never had, to the best of my knowledge) or is it likely to be the symptom of a more complex (& expensive) problem?

Thanks

The Captain.

You could have recirc flaps stuck.

Search the forum, and you'll find more info on this and any fixes.

Or the interior temp. sensor is wacked as that defaults to it's lowest value.

My last car was a 2005 2.0FSi. Just before warranty ran out (thank heaven) mine did the same. They checked for re-gassing but it turned out to be the compressor.

I doubt its to do with the air conditioning side of things as you should still be able to get very cold air from outside with the compressor switched off. I would go along with the whacked temp sensor/damper theories. If the car steams up easily it could be the recirc damper. If the temp sensor is knackered the controller can't manage the cabin temperature correctly.

Can you get a diagnostic scan run on the climatronic system? If someone nearby has VCDS they might be able to help. That would most likely tell what the problem is.

Just sitting in dealer awaiting a recharge of air con. Not had this before on others cars. 2 years old but I do tend to only turn on the a/c when I need it.
