Weekend Brake

Featured Replies

Hi there, im planning to inspect my brakes this weekend. I had the cam-belt done and car serviced at the local skoda garage a couple of weeks ago, and they advised that the brake discs and pads needed changing, although the front discs were the worst which was advised on my mot cert (passed by the way), they then went on and quoted me 4 hundred and something, so i plan to use 3 hundred of something more of this as beer money and spend the rest on parts :D

Anyway, just wandering, does my car require pads with wear indicators?, its an early 2002 1.9tdi estate, i think i can get away with probably just replacing the front discs, but replace the pads all around, i havent looked, but assume the rear discs will be ok, the car has done about 60k. Ive been offered some 'mintex' parts at a good price that seems competitive with the likes of GSF, are these any good?, my cars not been modified, im not really thinking of anything special!! (well..not currently)

P.s., has anybody got a heat flap motor spare, or managed to fit/fix one!!?

Regards, Steve

GSF parts are usually Brembo discs and pagid/textar/mintex (All TMD Friction) pads.

Is your car an octy or a furby?

They are all good enough and about £150 should see you with a set of discs and pads all around, including the wear indicator pad. (I'm assuming Octy MK I Here)
