Car Insurance......

Featured Replies

I've just renewed mine for my 53reg Octavia Elegance TDi 110 Estate. Both myself and my wife drive it, and fully comprehensive, protected no claims discount with a £250 voluntary excess came in at £222.00. I didn't think it was too bad.

It's one reason why I'm glad I'm not 18 anymore.....

so you have a little bit of cash to become a freedom member then :D

nice and cheap if only my vrs was the same :o

Sounds good. But which company?

Sounds good. But which company?

That was the one that advertises on the TV with the elephant on it. I've been with them for three years now, and so far they've been very good......

Cheers for that. I paid slightly more with Privilege for my L&K PD130 (higher insurance group) but that was last June as a new customer - useful to know which companies are Octavia friendly for next time.

I had real problems with a certain company that uses an Elephant to advertise, i'm just glad i didnt need to make a claim :(

My best mate used said company (who gave him the cheapest quote). Had to make a claim... took them 2 YEARS to sort it! Needless to say, he uses a different company now. I used to use them too- always gave me a low price, but eventually changed because their lack of modifications knowledge was scary + my mate's bad experience put me off.

Sorry to put a dampener on it- sounds like a good price.

Jeez, just hope I don't have to make a claim.......

Tip ..... Try Qidco, it's a cashback site and has all the big names. I did my insurance through them and went with Swiftcover for a tad over £200 (OctyII 1.9PD). Then ...... the best bit ....... I got £45 cashback. Great!

Same with my house insurance - insured with Asda via Quidco and earned £68 cashback making total cost of buildings + contents £52. Bargain.

I went with Elephant last year but renewal this year was over £400 , so did some surfing and got it down to £212 fully comp 2006 vrs tfsi with Swinton , guess who im going with this year .

The renewal in the 2nd year is just a p-take with most companies - that's the game.

Hence find a company that will do a low quote for a new customer and then renegotiate with your existing provider.

I use confused to look for quotes ,which usually ends up with my broker ,sometimes lower ,sometimes not .If lower ,I get ref no and ask them WHY -usually they will honour it -if not -plenty of brokers looking for new business .

What really narks me is that I've got protected NCB ,but if added up something like 18yrs NCB ---two fault accidents and I'm well down on NCB - whereasit shouldreally be down to something like at worst 12 years -still more than enough to get protected NCB ,and a decent quote .:eek::eek:

Now then -will someone save me £180 on my insurance -i'd like a chequefor the difference please :thumbup::thumbup:

Just insured the Octy for the wife with me named on it 2 days ago (Her name is on the V5 until I buy her a new car!). She's 30 I'm 26. 7 years NCB. I've got one claim. Massively comprehensive insurance right down to legal cover. All mods declared. Only extra discount was for us both being response driver trained.

£514 through Adrian Flux. Not bad I thought, considering the best quote we had for the car in standard 150bhp form was £370.

Adrian Flux, full comp, protected etc with declared mods (Millteck ex and K&N panel) £219.

I wanted to stay with Liverpool Vic as I've been with them for 7 years and had no probs with claims etc, but the nearest they could get was £100 dearer

It works too. My home insurance is with Direct Line. My 2nd year renewal came in at £100 more than last year. I went onto their website and got a quote as if I was a new customer. I then phoned them up and complained. The girl told me that was an introductory price for new customers only. I said "fine, I'll go and be a new customer of someone else then". Guess what? They knocked that £100 off straight away....

I do wonder thought just how many people are getting ripped off because they don't do what I did.....

Same thing happened with my car insurance with Direct Line!

my son who is 18 got a quote on my vrs and they wanted £7500!!! lol.. he nearly fainted
