OBD Code 4C82

Help!

The Engine Management Light came on several days ago (2004 Octavia 1.9Tdi), but as I need the car I kept on driving - there appears to be no effect upon the engine or anything else. I had bought a cheap OBD reader on EBay some time ago, and this indicated error code 4C82, which although I have searched the web, I cannot interpret.

I have cancelled the code (and turned off the warning light) several times with this gadget, only for it to return.

Strange thing is that the light re-appears whilst driving, and not during the start up auto diagnostic check.

Any suggestions, please.

What code reader do you have? I have never seen a code like that normally it's P???? or 5 digits

Yes, I realise that the code usually starts with 'P', although there are apparently other manufacturer specific codes.

My code reader is an "AutoScanner" by UIF Tech.

Well folks, I have now found that this is a Skoda DTC Definition Code equivalent to VAG19586. Does anyone have any info on this????

OK that gives me this 19586 - EGR System Regulation Range Exceeded : P3130

Check your vaccuum lines and clogging at the egr/intake junction

Thanks for that, but I am afraid as a total ignoramus, this means nothing to me. Is there something that I should check-out?

The EGR valve is on the pipe that runs from the intercooler into the inlet manifold - back left hand corner of the engine - round metal thing on end of pipe. It recirculates exhaust gas into the manifold to help with the emissions. But it also gets cacked up and causes starting problems. It might help to see it if you take the plastic engine cover off to check the vacuum line going into it - only three bolts holding the cover on.

Got deja vu now...

Just answered another post on the EGR. Still can't find the flipping picture of it...

Many thanks everyone. Will investigate tomorrow.
